[Taylor] phase 1

Pot Pie is a small intimate restaurant in Kansas City, Mo. When approaching the rebrand of this establishment I wanted to enhance the attributes it was already providing in it's experience. Although, with enhancing comes editing. Pot Pie is all about the idea of home and comfort. The experience that you are so close to the kitchen is relatable to that "eat-in" kitchen you grew up with as a kid. Through rebranding Pot-Pie I want to keep that coziness that comes with thinking of home, but enhance it with a bit more sophisticated and possibly elaborate one. Making the experience and brand relatable yet more special and one-of-a-kind. Through this it will then help Pot Pie by setting it apart from it's competitors, rather than it being this mysterious restaurant that you're just not sure what they serve, besides Pot Pie.

[Vi] phase 1

The first phase of this project was to evaluate the existing brand and propose a re-branding. I chose to do a local company in Kansas City, Trapp and Company.

They are well known for their floral, interior decorating, gifts, and event planning.

In my presentation, I summarize their brand essence, elements, and mission statement. I also talk about why I chose to re design their brand. As seen from the previous images, their logo is not reflective of their designs. Their logo is more classic whereas their designs are more contemporary. I want to bring their design aesthetic into their identity. They have a solid foundation in terms of brand elements and essence but it is not reflective in their identity. I also created personas to match the people that I think would shop there. They are all very vague and could fit about anyone because I felt like anyone could use their services. My Scribd presentation goes into more details (and it has lots of pretty images).

new for the sake of being new?

Sunday, August 28, 2011

check the rebrand of this organization at brand new. the success of the new design is (clearly) open for debate...of interest is the reason for the rebrand: "The previous logo was not an accurate representation of the growing company. The illustrated portrait suggested a one-man business (or possibly someone selling designer eyewear). The type treatment felt informal, especially in contrast to the rigid structure of the squared box. Least successful was the lowercase tagline, which was awkwardly tracked out."

Rebranding is the creation of a new name, term, symbol, design, or a combination of them for an established brand with the intention of developing a differentiated (new) position in the mind of stakeholders and competitors—says the wiki.
